When the flood comes..

South Australian band 'the Audreys' played at Lizzottes last year ..a fact we only found out that night after stumbling across it in the local rag ..and after frantically ringing Lizottes to see if they had any tables left ..we left dissapointed (they'd been sold out for weeks). So when I got wind of them playing again in late May..there was no way we were missing out this time! So Emma was 8 months pregnant and that'd mean we'd have a little baby by then.."I'd be cool" "she'll be right"... I've developed a little philosophy that it's far better to try and fail than to not try at all....because I do think in the majority of cases that things do turn out OK in the mix.. well things sorta turned out OK?? We ended up on a table about 3 metres from the action with a few other people who were quite cool with a new born joining the festivities...I think he was the only 3 month old fresh born and openly admits to being a bit of an Audreys Fan..so it was all good.

They are an amazing and incredibly tight and talented live band and am glad I got to experience the magic, not only with my lady but newest son to boot...some pics...

The Arrival

The other wonderful thing we saw recently was a stage production of 'The Arrival' based on the book by the amazingly talented artist and author Shaun Tan. All his work i've seen strikes a chord that resonates straight to the heart but at the same times keeps a feeling of quirkiness that really makes me feel like a kid again .The wonderful thing is the it's all open to such interpretation.. limited only to the imagination and openmindedness of the soul sitting at the receiving end of one of his books, or in this case, the stage production. I was literally moved to tears and would recommend any of his books, 'The Lost Thing' 'The Arrival' or his latest effort 'Tales from Outer Suburbia' to anyone with imaginitive children or who wants to feel childish again.

Back into the Stretch

It's been close on 12 months since I was doing yoga regularly...so when some new classes started down at revamped local surf club at Umina led by Helen Macnair, I thought I'd give it a go. ..At the tender 'young' age of 35, something starting to dawn on me..the fact that my body is in a state of slow but unavoidable decline..and the fact that I am still eager to improve and spend more time doing 'young' stuff like skateboarding and surfing makes yoga classes seem like a lifeline to simply being able to do this down the track. I am heartened when I look at the alot of the guys I skate with who are in their 30's,40's and 50's...and seeing Al down Umina Beach most mornings suiting up and heading out into the ocean on his MR shortboard..really fills me with hope......oh yeah did I mention he's seventy something!!!

Helens' Astanga Yoga classes are more fluid, energetic and focused more on breathing through the lesson. I'm by no means a yoga expert, and don't think I've particulary got it wired yet. It's a very personal and completely non competitive deal but I can say I getting heaps out of these classes..I feel more relaxed, more fluid and generally more content with all that's going on ..I think I'm onto something good...

Back to the Future (again)

....

A few years ago I managed to talk Emma out of doing the polaroid thing..you know.."it's too expensive darl"..."too hard to get the film" yep Mr negative was laying down the law back then...ironic huh that at about the same time that Polariod recently announced that it was stopping production all together..I decided it might be a good idea to finally agree with Em and rock up a few pics before the now very trendy activity of polarioding became extinct . yeah..so pics end up costing about 3 bucks a pop...but it's not like you reamimg off hundreds of em like digital. Quality over quantity for sure, a look and a feel that is quite unique and yes....I have sinced apologised to the better half for not doing this sooner ...

Some Amusing Pictures I've found and added captions

(O.K ..I'm desperate !!!)

That's it little fella ...but just remember browns the active, blue's the neutral .....and don't touch the metal part!!

I never realized computers were just like people..
